The province Rimini is the most southern extremity of the region Emilia-Romagna. With its principally even countryside, in the east, it borders directly on the Mediterranean Sea. Here is also situated its capital Rimini, which is the largest and probably lively city on the Adriatic coast. Numerous sandy beaches, excellent restaurants and a pronounced nightlife make it to the tourist magnet number one. In the immediate surrounding area are situated the province Forli-Cesena in the north, Pesaro and Urbino in the south and the republic San Marino in the west. The province Rimini is known for its hospitality, its exquisite cuisine and traditional handicraft. The historic past of this region has a multitude of historic buildings of the Romans and of the Middle Ages. Great day trips to Florence, Bologna and Venice are possible by car. Also recommendable is a tour of the republic San Marino (25 km) and of the famous mosaic of Ravenna (30 km).
