Rimini
The region is clasped by long sandy beaches, as well as two principal valleys along the rivers Marecchia and Conca, which stick out into the interior. The mountain range of the Apennines extends near to the coast and gives the country a diverse appearance: very fertile and verdant hills alternate with bleak, rugged gorges. There is a large number of interesting natural landscapes, nature reserves, municipal parks and botanic gardens to visit. A visit worth is the fauna reserve and the ornithological observatory of the Conca- River (near Misano Adriatico- Misano Monte) and the oasis (reserve) of the “Ca Brigida” in the gorge of Marecchia near Verucchio with woods, cultivated areas and trails of ancient colonies. The entrance is free and accessible all year round. Another attraction is the grotto of Onferno, which is nestled in a nature reserve. It belongs to the most rugged places of the Romagna with its grottos, sinkholes, cliffs and woods.
